I was fortunate enough to obtain a Yeasu 355d Frequency counter, the model dates back to the early 1970's making this unit over 50 years old. The previous owner(SK) lived within a couple of 100 meters from the ocean and I was a bit concerned about corrosion, I knew it was working at least(that corrosion issue always comes and bite's you when least expected)
As can be seen the casing had some surface rust, nothing to write home about yet still an eyesore, I subsequently removed them and had them resprayed.
The interior and electrical side of the unit as surprisingly clean with no golden screwdrivers making some inferior repairs it seems.
Next up was the chrome finisher around the fascia, the grime came off without effort with a bit of car polish

A bit of contact cleaner made easy work of the corrosion on the electronic contacts , lastly came the replacement 230v cable and plug, needless to say flex wire is not the safest option.
