Part of the fun living in Cape town is not only the mountain, ocean and the vineyards. It is also because the 3Y0K team docked in Cape Town harbour and the CTARC(Cape Town Amateur radio centre) arranged a welcome ceremony. We where invited to be part of the ceremony and enjoyed a wonderful lunch listening to their stories of snow falling horizontal to winds oblitirating their yagi antennas. They will surely be telling the whole story on various other platforms, this was however a huge honor to meet most of the team and their support crew, definitely men and women that decided to take on the elements in a far off DX entity and brought the contacts back. Despite attempting a SSB contact with the team to no avail(a 100w radio and a wire antenna is not that efficient in a pile up), I then got FT8 started and they have me in the log on both 17m and 40m not my initial plan but hey one uses the tools available. It was truly an amazing experience.
